🧠 What It Means

  • CO + H₂O → CO₂ + H₂

  • Used after steam methane reforming (SMR) or gasification.

  • Produces more hydrogen by reacting carbon monoxide with steam.

Key Challenges

  • Produces CO₂ as a byproduct (not “green”).

  • Requires high temperature and catalysts.

  • Needs CO₂ capture for decarbonisation.
